Kayla Stoecklein’s husband Andrew was a great man of God. As a pastor of a thriving church, he stood on stage and delivered hope to thousands. But under the surface, he faced a terrible battle. After a years-long battle with depression, Andrew died by suicide in August of 2018. Despite unimaginable pain, Kayla has made it her mission to keep as many people as possible from experiencing what she’s walked through. In the second part of our mental health series, Kayla joins Davey to share what she’s learned about grief, mental health, and more.

When trials hit our lives, it can be hard to even believe that God is for us. How can we reconcile a good God with a life that seems bad? But even if we can believe, then what? Aubrey Sampson found herself asking that when she found herself suffering from an autoimmune disorder, watching her young son undergo surgery and a difficult recovery, and grieving the sudden loss of a close family member. Every new circumstance brings new levels of pain and grief, and it can be hard to draw near to God when everything seems to be going wrong. This is exactly what Molly Huffman faced. After her mother’s death, a miscarriage, the loss of her newborn son, and a divorce, it seemed like the whole world was against her.

It only takes an instant for our lives to change forever. For Maria Hatch-Bowersock, that instant came in the form of a phone call. The voice on the other end told her that the plane carrying her parents and brother had crashed. Her mother and father were both dead, and her brother had little chance of making it.

Losing someone we love is one of the hardest things any of us will ever go through, and it’s nearly impossible to know how to handle it. There is no manual for grief. But the story doesn’t end in sorrow. We mourn, but we don’t mourn like those who have no hope. Beth Marshall experience this pain when her mother passed away very suddenly. Now she sits down with Davey to talk about walking with God through grief, and how how she’s made it her mission to help others do the same.

Jeff and Mackenzie Rollins are not content to see their ministry confined to the mission fields they’ve worked on.
